Parent Education I provide individual and group session on parent education.
Parenting Defiant Children Additional workshops are available on a variety of subjects, such as Parenting Defiant Children, Working with Students with Asperger’s and High Functioning Autism and Inclusion Issues in the Mainstream Classroom. Presentations on inclusion issues are also available for students. Please contact me for information. I am often joined in these sessions by several associates, all licensed social workers or certified school psychologists with direct hands-on experience using the positive behavioral support techniques and social skills training systems we discuss in the workshops. Together we are able to provide input into the practical problems of implementing these techniques into a classroom setting. In individual parent education sessions we usually follow the skills found in Russell Barkley's book Parenting the Defiant Child. In addition to this I bring in information from similar sources on working with children with specific disorders such as Asperger's, ADHD and similar problems. Often we talk about specific parenting skills and helping your child develop as fully as possible into a happy independent individual. I bring over a decade of experience as a classroom teacher, two decades as a school and child psychologist and many years as a parent to this work.
