Dr. Jim Roche is a BC Registered Psychologist providing assessment, testing, treatment and consultation for issues relating to ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, behavioural concerns and specific learning disabilities. We works with children, adolescents and adults.
I provide individualized assessments for children, adolescents and adults with issues relating to ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Specific Learning Disabilities.
This includes testing, assessments, diagnosis and clinical consultations.
For over 30 years I have worked as a teacher of Special Education, director of school and district wide behaviour intervention programs, provided diagnostic testing and assessment for schools, hospitals and the courts as the state’s expert witness in NY State for civil and criminal cases as well as teaching/supervising students in assessment and treatment at the undergraduate and graduate level. I have served as the director of psychological services at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center in NYC and as a Faculty Member in the Dept. of Psychiatry at NYU Medical Center and Kirby Forensic Hospital and as a behavioural specialist for several state and provincial corrections facilities. I hold an MA in Family Therapy (Vermont College), a doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Union Graduate School), a post-doctoral certificate in Educational Psychology (CAGS) from Norwich University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence with a focus in Family Law from The School of Law at Queens College of the City University of New York (CUNY Law).
You may email me to begin setting up an appointment. I usually start by meeting for an initial session to gather a developmental history, discuss your current concerns, and develop a plan of where to go from here. During the continuing Covid-19 crisis we may complete this initial session by phone. An assessment may or may not be the best choice, and you should fully understand what your options are before proceeding.
You may email me here: drjimroche@gmail.com
If I have an opening in the near future I will contact you, so please include your phone number, a brief description of the complaint (I have an 8 year old son or daughter…) and the issue you are concerned about (…who needs an assessment for ADHD…. or a psychoeducational assessment….) Please, do not include too many details, and do not send copies of reports etc. at this time.
I cannot answer all consultation requests, but keep emails at hand should there be an opening or a cancellation.
